8-24 IAN M/M Award

Local Feedlot Wins Regional Environmental Stewardship Award. The Idaho Cattle Association and the Idaho Beef Council recently recognized and congratulated M/M Feedlot of Parma, Idaho for being selected as the regional winner of the Environmental Stewardship Award Program. M/M Feedlot, which is a confined animal feeding operation owned by Kent & Gloria Mann and Darin & Allison Mann, was one of six cattle operations that were recognized for their outstanding stewardship and conservation practices at the 2011 Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Kissimmee, Fla.

Communication Director for the Idaho Cattle Association, Jessie Thompson says. “Conserving the land and its resources is a main concern for cattle producers, which is why these families are the some of the best environmental stewards out there. “The Mann’s far exceed the standards that have been set by others, because they are continuously committed to using environmentally conscious practices on a daily basis. Their cutting-edge techniques and unwavering dedication prove that they are the ultimate stewards of the land.”

The Environmental Stewardship Award Program recognizes cattle operations that use superior conservation practices to sustain the land for future generations. Candidates are judged on management of water, wildlife, vegetation, soil, as well as the nominee’s leadership and the sustainability of his/her business as a whole. The ESAP award program is administered by the National Cattlemen’s Foundation and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
