Field Day

Field Day

Field Day. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

The 3rd Annual Sunrise Research Orchard Field Day is coming up on August 16th and Jay Brunner with WSU’s Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center give us the details.

BRUNNER: It’s going to be in the afternoon from 5 to 6:30. Following that we have a barbecue dinner sponsored by Wilson Irrigation. We’re going to have some presentations in the field of kind of a sample of the on-going research that is being done at the Sunrise Research Orchard.

Brunner says this is a bit of show and tell for them.

BRUNNER: That the tree fruit industries investment in establishing and WSU’s commitment to funding the operations of the research orchard has paid off well. There’s a lot of different research activities that are on-going at the site involving not only WSU but USDA, ARS and other institutions where there is collaboration with WSU and WSU Extension where there’s a lot of applied research and testing and validation going on.

He says he hopes people will be able to visually see the changes that have occurred since the orchard was planted in 2007.

BRUNNER: We don’t have a registration, It’s kind of everybody’s invited. We’re hoping we have 100 people. If people want to call the center here and let us know they’re coming , that would help.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
