Welcome to Open Range, I’m Susan Allen. Stay tuned because after the break I’ll check in with our field reporter, Greg Martin for the AgriBeef Minute.

I’m Greg Martin with the Open Range AgriBeef Minute. Beef is a great source of protein and according to Traci O’Donnell with Idaho Beef it is a natural as a tie-in to the Boise Iron Man competition.

O’DONNELL: Eating right is a key to good health and for athletes that participate in events like Iron Man food choices are very critical when it comes to their training and participating in an endurance sport. We saw this as a great opportunity ro remind consumers about the nutritional benefits of beef.

This is the third year Idaho Beef has been a sponsor of the event.

O’DONNELL: A number of these athletes know the importance of beef. They understand that protein is critical to building and repairing muscles so for them they understand the protein benefits, we just have to debunk the myth that beef is a lean choice when they’re trying to watch either their fat or calories or things like that.

Besides just being a sponsor they have gotten more involved by creating Team Beef.

O’DONNELL: This year our Team Beef will have about 75 athletes competing in the Boise Iron Man as part of Team Beef so it’s a great opportunity for us to increase our visibility and essentially these people become moving billboards all throughout the racecourse for us.

I’m Greg Martin and that’s today’s AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks Greg. Don’t forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef. I’m Susan Allen.
