Welcome to Vine to Wine, this is your host Linda Moran and on today's program, we are going to explore my new favorite wine.
As many of you know my "new favorite wine" is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. But this week I must say that I made a concerted effort to seek out and drink this particular wine. It is a wine that I have always admired. I have truly embraced the idea that life is too short to drink bad wine. I decided to use the occasion of my sister's birthday as an excuse to open up a wine from our cellar. The wine comes from Stag's leap Wine Cellars in Napa Valley California. It is not to be confused with Stags Leap Winery. There is, in my mind, no comparison. This wine was a 1992 Fay Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon. Now understand please that 1992 was the 6th year of a drought in the region but in this vintage Mother nature seemed to adapt and the harvest was excellent and the quality was very high. But, what was most impressive was how well this wine is aging. It is a testimony to wineries like Stag's Leap Wine Cellars that make wine with the ability to last the test of time. This wine is one that will definitely last even longer. It had character and complexity that was so enticing we were all savoring the glass. The beauty of a well aged wine was beginning to show and for those who had not experienced there was a revelation for them as to why I bother to do it. Patience proved to be a virtue in a wine that will always be one of my favorite wines. And thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
