4-26 FB Wheat Kvetch

  So far this spring it seems that the conversations that are going on around coffee shops that are frequented by the agricultural community has been about rain, snow, precipitation in general and the hopes that sooner or later we would see some warm weather and sunshine.

 There is a word in Hebrew that is kvetch.  Very simply it means to complain and when you talk to corn farmers, onion farmers, a lot of wheat farmers, sugar beet farmers, being farmers, there’s all whole lot of kvetching going on. But when it comes to those farmers who grow winter wheat, a lot of them have big smiles on their face. Executive Director of the Idaho  wheat growers Association, Blaine Jacobson, tells us why. “The good thing about winter wheat is that it is already in the ground and so it is benefiting from this water. The winter wheat crop is doing well. It wintered quite well throughout most of the state and this spring rain is helping it off to a good start.”
