4-19 FB Corn Fungicide
Early application of Fungicides on corn is suggested.
Given that corn is a growing crop in Idaho, no pun intended, you should be aware of this. Applying fungicides to corn during the early vegetative growth stages is a technique that is quickly gaining popularity. Growers have seen disease control in corn treated with fungicides at the early vegetative growth stages (V4-V8). Additionally - the treated corn not only looks greener and healthier - but it produces higher yields and better quality grain.
Eric Tedford who is Fungicide Technical Brand Manager at Syngenta - describes some of the benefits of applying fungicides at the early growth stages and discusses how fungicides improve Plant Performance. “Good coverage at the onset of disease will enhance disease control and therefore prevent the pathogen from further spreading and causing infections later in the season. Also with our own systemic mobility of Quadras allows the active ingredient to move within the plants sold by putting it on in the early vegetative stages the active ingredient will move up as the plant grows and provide protection.”
Tedford says growers who participated in trials last year saw the benefits of these early-season applications
