Raise The Steaks Against Hunger

Welcome to Open Range, I’m Susan Allen. Stay tuned because after the break I’ll check in with our field reporter, Greg Martin for the AgriBeef Minute.

I’m Greg Martin with the Open Range AgriBeef Minute. The Idaho Beef Council is taking a proactive step to help the hungry. Tracy O’Donnell is the director of the council.

O’DONNELL: Raise the Steaks Against Hunger is the campaign we do in conjunction with the Treasure Valley’s top steakhouses to benefit the Idaho’s food bank so people are encouraged to dine out for lunch or dinner on Thursday, April 28. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Idaho food bank.

Six restaurants are participating and for every dollar donated, AgriBeef will provide a 50% match. O’Donnell says there are several reasons for participating.

O’DONNELL: It’s helping out our neighbors in need which is the essence of the Beef Counts campaign and what we’re doing on a large scale here in Idaho where we’ve raised over $85-thousand dollars just in the past year towards beef protein for hungry Idahoans.

The Idaho Beef Council and AgriBeef are dedicated to making a difference with programs like this.

O’DONNELL: It’s helping get people out there and experience these wonderful restaurants and also it’s just bringing attention to Idaho’s beef industry and some of the thing that we’re doing here in our local community to help out those people who are less fortunate.

If you’d like more information on the Raise the Steaks promotion visit their website at www.raisethesteaksagainsthunger.com. I’m Greg Martin and that’s today’s AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks Greg. Don’t forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef.  I’m Susan Allen.
