4-1 IAN Cattle handling
A seminar on cattle handling. I’m David sparks and that story is next. I got an invitation to join Idaho Beef Quality Assurance and University of Idaho Extension during the Stockmanship and Stewardship cattle handling seminar with Curt Pate.. First thing in my mind was what cattle handling exactly so I asked Jackie Jones who is Idaho Beef Quality Assurance Coordinator about Curt Pate: “His expertise is emphasizing low stress techniques while handling cattle or working capital either on horseback or on foot in corrals or alleys or out on pasture, just your general handling basic skills and it’s a pertinent thing to keep in mind for the industry because it increases our own techniques and provides for better quality and a better environment for the cattle and just makes life easier. Curt pate has been working with the national cattlemen’s beef Association and has been traveling across the US conducting seminars. He just goes over the various techniques that he uses and emphasizes with people that he works with. Would this be the equivalent of horse whisperer only its cattle whisperer? I don’t know if I’d go that far but you could say something like that.”
This is a great opportunity for livestock producers. The seminar will be held April 13th-16th in four various Idaho locations: Lewiston, Homedale, Twin Falls, and Blackfoot.
