National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Strongly Supports Amendment to Block Funding to Regulate Dust

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) sent a letter to U.S. Representative Kristi Noem (R-SD) in support of her amendment to a  resolution to fund the federal government through the end of this fiscal year. Representative Noem’s amendment would block any funds from being used by the Environmental Protection Agency to modify the national primary ambient air quality standard or the national secondary ambient air quality standard applicable to coarse particulate matter (dust).

That’s a lot of big words so I called Chief Legal Council for the NCBA to ask her to explain in more simple terms: “EPA has laid the foundation for  regulating dust at an unprecedented level…twice as stringent as the current standard. That would be devastating for agriculture.”

So the EPA doesn’t want cowboys to herd cattle because it will kick up too much dust. Here’s a thought. Put little soft booties on cows.
