Cherry Website Launched

Cherry Website Launched. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

A four-year, four-state project aimed at improving production and marketing of sweet cherries through stemless mechanical harvest has launched a new website. Tracie Arnold, Project Coordinator for WSU Prosser – IAREC.

ARNOLD: Well we’ve had a dot com website for our research project for about a year now and over the course of the year now we decided to move it to WSU’s website since they’re the lead institution on this research grant so we could have a consistent branding image with all of our web, prints and other outreach materials.

The project involves 11 researchers at WSU, Oregon State University, the University of California, Michigan State University and Picker Technologies of Bellevue, Wash.

ARNOLD: We wanted to recognize that WSU was only one partner in this project. We’ve found that we can recognize that they’re really important partners in this grant and also have it recognized as a WSU research grant.

Arnold talks about who the target audience of the website is.

ARNOLD: We it’s really an informational portal. We’ve put a wide variety of information on the site. It’s for researchers who are looking for more information, it’s for people involved in the cherry industry, it’s for media and just for the general public.

You can find the new site at sweetcherryresearch.wsu.edu.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
