 Snowpack in Idaho dropping.

We had a lot of mid-winter rain in Boise and I kept on thinking “This is going to be a great spring and summer for the ag community because while it’s raining down here, they must be getting tons of snow up there…in the mountains.” Not so quick cowboy. It turns out from an Idaho Department of Water Resources news release that snow packs across Idaho are near to slightly below average for most of the state. And ironically it’s due to the amount of rain. Here’s Rick Raymondi from department of water resources to whom I asked the question…What happened?: “You remember a month ago, we were sitting above average and then we had the January rains and we lost a significant amount of our snowpack.” So what now? There’s gonna be a big meeting where the Idaho Water Supply Committee will cover topics that include weather, climate, reservoir operation, river flows, and snowpack.
