Scholarship Deadline Approaching

Scholarship Deadline Approaching

Scholarship Deadline Approaching. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Students planning to go to college or already attending can always use a little extra financial help. Jennifer Witherbee, Executive Director of the Washington Apple Education Foundation says it’s time for students to turn in their scholarship applications.

WITHERBEE: Students that qualify for Foundation scholarships are those that are raised in tree fruit growing districts. This year we expect we will probably award nearly 150 scholarships and that will represent about $400-thousand dollars in aid for students that are going on to college.

The deadline is rapidly approaching.

WITHERBEE: March first is the date the applications absolutely must be postmarked by and we are really stressing that this year for students but we will not be accepting scholarship applications that are postmarked after March 1st. So students need to get busy right now; complete their applications; do a great job of their essay. It’s just one page, it’s easy to complete.

Scholarship winners will be announced the first part of May.

WITHERBEE: Students can fins the scholarship applications at www.waef.org and the scholarship application is under the scholarships tab. And there’s an option there to either print off the scholarship application or to utilize the fill-in PDF.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
