1-26 FB Elk & Bison
Livestock producers, there’s an intriguing economic opportunity which is off the beaten path…literally. I’m DS and I’ll tell you all about it next. Stephen Bagley’s a 4th generation rancher from Victor, ID. His family had a dairy operation and primarily raised beef cattle along with a few other entrepreneurial spinoffs. But then Stephen discovered a market for something delicious and nutritious: “4 years ago we sold the dairy, we still have the beef cows and over the last 10-15 years, we’ve added elk, buffalo and some outfitting. We market most of our elk meat to individuals and restaurants. We got started with buffalo 4 years ago and the buffalo meat is in high demand. A lot of the demand is free range. Free of antibiotics or anything like that, that’s another selling point.”
