11-3 IAN Otter Relocating

What companies are trying to relocate to Idaho and why? I’m David Sparks and I’ll let you hear Governor Otter’s position on this very important topic in a minute. If lots of companies moved their headquarters to our state, wouldn’t that mean job increases, more commercial real estate sales, and in general improve our overall economy. Here’s Idaho Governor Butch Otter with his perspective. “Administrative companies, management companies, product making companies, energy companies are all looking to Idaho because we have predictability in the state. They know we’re not gonna start regulating people because somebody thinks it might be a good idea. There’s gotta be substance behind it. We’re not changing our tax structure at every little whim. We’re limiting and curtailing growth in government and we’ve got a lot of efficiencies out of the government I inherited when I came in. They’re voting with their feet, David. They’re raising taxes in Washington and Oregon and people are leaving those states because the only way they raise revenue is in the taxpayer’s pocket.” Increased population growth has a positive ripple effect on agriculture.
