Crystal Lake Wines Part 2

Crystal Lake Wines Part 2. I'm Greg Martin with today's Line On Agriculture. It has been 30 years since Adrienne King was chased around Crystal Lake by a machete carrying psycho in the horror movie classic, "Friday the 13th." She went on to appear in the sequel and then disappeared. She was stalked and terrorized by an obsessive fan. To escape, King headed to England where she spent time studying acting at the London Royal Academy. About 6 years ago, she and her husband discovered Oregon's Rogue Valley and have made it home. She also discovered the Valley View Winery in Jacksonville where she became good friends with Mike and Mark Wisnovsky who suggested she create her own wine label. And so Crystal Lake wine was born. KING: The wine is really quite wonderful. I go to work with John Guererro, the winemaker here, and he's a graduate of UC Davis and he's been here for over 25 years and this is the oldest winery; Valley View Winery is the oldest winery in southern Oregon and I was able to work with John and figure out what I wanted for my Survivors Syrah, my chardonnay and my cabernet sauvignon so it doesn't get better than that. Fans just can't seem to get enough of the wine. Last weekend King and her Crystal Lake wines were featured at the Harry & David store in Medford and were so well received that they are planning another event for this coming weekend. King will sign bottles that feature her own label art. KING: It's the scene of Alice in the canoe in the last moment, that scary moment that everyone knows if they've ever seen the movie would never forget when Alice's dream comes to life on screen where Jason pops up but it's that quiet moment right before that and I was able to integrate that into the label and sign that for my fans. At only $20 a bottle King says they hope that it will help bring fans into a finer wine with not a lot of cost. King spends time at the winery in the afternoons assisting in the tasting room, talking to fans about the wines and movie. KING: Who would have dreamt this a year ago, I would never have thought I would have my own wine label but the fans embraced it. We haven't spent any money on marketing, all we did was a Facebook; Crystal Lake Wines by Adrienne King, just to see if there was any interest and low and behold the "Friday the 13th" fans blew out Valley View Wineries website. So that was an indication that we had something. King is back to acting and will being shooting a new movie shortly called "The Innocent."
