9-8 FB Korea Opens Borders

The best potatoes in the world finally accepted into Korea. I’m David Sparks with a What?  Back in a minute. The Koreans found pale cyst nematodes in Idaho potatoes 4 years ago and stopped buying them from us. Crazy story but here’s ISDA’s   Amanda Albers to explain: “In 2006, potato cyst nematode was found in 2 of Idaho’s counties, Bigham and Bonneville counties, and Korea closed its borders to Idaho fresh potatoes. The state along with the USDA, the Governor, ISDA, the potato Commission, the US Potato Board all worked very closely together in a number of ways to try and resolve the issue and try to encourage Korea to re-open their borders. ISDA responded to a lot of requests for information from the Korean government. With enough pressure and due diligence, they have moved to re-open their borders.”
