8-18 IAN Sound Wind Farm

8-18 IAN Sound Wind Farm

I think I may have seen it all now. Environmental groups suing against the development of an alternative energy resource. I’m David Sparks and I’ll be right back. It never ends and no wonder we, as humans, are constantly at war. It’s because we like to fight. Period. Paragraph. Here’s an example. We’ve been trying to collectively move as a country towards greener energy for years. Solar power, ethanol, algae, wind, and it goes on and on. I’ve done tons of stories on how agriculture can get in on the action and make money. Environmentalists have led the charge.

Now environmentalists are suing to prevent a wind farm from being built near Cape Cod. Cape Wind is a private developer seeking to build an industrial scale offshore wind power plant on Horseshoe Shoal in Nantucket Sound. Covering 25 square miles, an area the size of Manhattan, the plant would consist of 130 wind turbines, each standing 440' tall. But according to Sandy Taylor of the Save Our Sound Alliance…wind farms are dangerous. “There’s 400 flights there’s great concern in the safety of the thousands of passengers that fly over the sound every year as the turbines sweep it distorts the radar.”

But then it takes oil to fuel the 400 flights most of which are for tourists to see the sound. So let’s instead take wind power off the table and drill for oil in the sound to fuel the planes. Anyone heard of the Gulf of Mexico disaster?
