Wheat futures mixed; catle on feed numbers
Market Line July 26 2010 Wheat futures were mixed at Chicago Friday but generally higher at KC and Minneapolis. Weather in Europe, the Back Sea region as well as Argentina offers support. In the Black sea region there is talk about export taxes. On Friday Chicago September wheat was down ¼ cent at 596 ¼. September corn was down ¼ cent at 371 and ¼. Portland soft white wheat down 10 cents at 4.94. New crop August soft white steady to 5 cents higher at 4.90 t0 5.10. Club wheat premium mostly a 37 cents. No Portland red wheat bids. Minneapolis Sept spring wheat was up 5 and ¾ cents at 628 and ½. Cattle futures were mostly higher Friday ahead USDA cattle inventory and on feed reports. October live cattle up 32 cents at 94.72. October feeders up 37 cents at 115.25. USDA analyst Shale Shagum sums up the cattle on feed report. Shagum: Cattle on feed July 1st was up about three percent. The number placed on feed during June was up 17%. The number of fed cattle marketed during June was up slightly at just under two-million head.” The beef cow inventory and beef placement heifer numbers were down two percent.
