7-12 FB Bulgin Retires
You may remember a big story last year on Dr. Marie Bulgin who was suspended from her University of Idaho professorship. The University had released the following statement: “"In June 2009, news media reported concerns raised by several groups and individuals, including Western Watersheds Project and representatives of the Nez Perce Tribe, about comments Marie Bulgin made in her testimony before the Idaho legislature during the 2009 session and in her written statements in federal litigation relating to transmission of disease between bighorn sheep and domestic sheep. The university took these reports and concerns seriously and launched a thorough assessment of the facts surrounding her comments. By the way, Dr. Bulgin did not think bighorns were being infected by domestics. She was subsequently re-instated when U of I found no evidence of 'scientific misconduct' in the wild sheep controversy. Dr. Bulgin recently announced that she is going to retire: “I am 71 and there comes a time when you wear out. It has nothing to do with what happened last year.”
