6-28 FB Wheat Doing Fine
We’ve heard recently from a U of I Ag Extension Specialist that some crops have been negatively affected by the cold and rain. But grains are doing fine. We’ll follow up on that story in a minute. It’s been a cold, wet spring that hasn’t exactly produced bumper results for sugar beets, corn and potatoes here in Idaho. But other than some little oddities, Northern Idaho wheat farmer Robert Blair says things seem to be going great: “Kind of wavy lines through your wheat and it looks like the cultivation paths from last spring is showing up this year and from researchers at McGregor Company they don’t know what’s going on so they’re doing tests and hopefully find out what it is. Two thoughts: One, it’s compaction another is rise octonium. Just one of those weird things. Wheat is looking good. Looks like we’ll have a good crop. Spring crops are all up. We just need a little bit of warm weather, we’ve been getting the moisture, so really can’t complain this year David.
