New Favorite Wine

New Favorite Wine

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. Very often on Friday I talk about my new favorite wine. However, today I want to talk about my new favorite wine shop. On a recent trip to Portland Oregon I convinced some friends to take me to a wine shop in the southwest hills above the city. I vaguely remembered it as a shop within a grocery store. It was a shop where I had purchased some rare Rieslings. But that was quite awhile ago and I wasn’t certain it still existed. So we set off down SW Patton Road until we reached Strohecker’s Market. The situation is a bit different but I was not disappointed. The selection of wines although not overwhelming was well thought out and represented most every region I was interested in. There is still a bit of a cellar where some rarer wines were stored although not quite the depth of the past I still found a few gems. To top it all off the shop was staffed by probably the most delightful and knowledgeable young woman I have met in a wine shop in years. Her name is Whitney and it is worth the trip just to meet her and by all means do take her recommendations she certainly sold me some fabulous wines I had never tasted and the experience is one I am still treasuring. The next time you are in Portland make time for a trip to Strohecker’s. And thank you for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
