Cattle Mutilations
Senseless murders in Idaho. What in the world is going on with people? I’m David Sparks and I won’t be able to answer that question in just a minute. Ever seen a llama. They’re sweet, they’re tame and they can serve, among other purposes, a function of watching over sheep and scaring away coyotes. A family near Buhl had two llamas for just that purpose and both were found shot to death.
There’s also been a recent spate of cattle being shot and mutilated in Gem County. Three calves and a cow were found dead from gunshot wounds with no apparent purpose. They weren’t butchered for meat, they were just mutilated. That’s a pretty serious crime, given that the cattle were worth around $5000 and authorities are looking for the perpetrator. Brand inspector Lynn Gibson said there was a lot of evidence at the scene of the cattle murders such as slugs and shell casings, also tire prints. There’s a $3000 reward for information leading to conviction and Lynn says if the killers are caught: “They’ll spend some time in jail.” The reward, for information leading to the arrest of those responsible, is being offered by the Idaho Farm Bureau, The Idaho Cattlemen's Association and the cows' owner. To report suspicious activity, call the Gem County Sheriff's Office
