Fuel Up to Play 60

Fuel Up to Play 60

At first it would seem the National Dairy Council and the National Football League would make for "strange bedfellows", in reality they team up quite well. The two well known groups have come together to implement the Fuel Up To Play 60, an in school nutrition and fitness program. The sad fact that a large majority of our nation's children are overweight and yet undernourished was the instigating factor behind the program. Rising to First Lady Michelle Obama's challenge to fight childhood obesity and improve our school children's overall health the NDC and the NFL have committed themselves financially and physically to reach into more than ninety percent of the nation's schools over the next five years. Unlike so many school programs developed by adults for children and ran by adults the Fuel Up To Play 60 implements student teams who work together with their adult leaders to ensure nutrient rich and yet kid appealing foods are more available for students, an aspect that will aide in assuring the success of the program. Fuel Up To Play 60 will go a long way toward developing and maintaining healthy eating habits for our children, in turn creating a nation of healthy adults.
