Pear Research Review

Pear Research Review

Pear Research Review. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Pear growers are invited to get the latest information on pear research next week in Yakima according to Kathy Schmidt with the Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission.

SCHMIDT: The Northwest Pear Research Review will be held next Thursday, February 18th. It starts out the morning with our final project report. These are people giving their concluding research information on a variety of different projects pertaining to pear.

The Pear Research Review is being held at the Red Lion Hotel Yakima Center in Yakima, WA.

SCHMIDT: From there we’ll break into two groups for continuing project reports and in the afternoon the focus will be on new project proposals. These are researchers who are looking to be funded through the research sub committee on pear projects.

Schmidt says the event is free and open to the public and no pre- registration required.  In addition WA pesticide credits may be available. She says this will interest a lot of growers.

SCHMIDT: Primarily people who are growers that are on the advisory committee for pear research. We also have commissioners from the tree fruit research commission who will be present. It is open to the public though and we encourage people to come and know where their grower assessment dollars are being put into pear research.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
