2009 FB Meeting-Agenda

Results of the 2009 Idaho Farm Bureau meeting in Idaho Falls.  The 70th Annual Meeting of the  Farm Bureau convened last week and it turned out to be a glowing success. Among the topics that were discussed were soil conservation, the whole wolf issue, range management and water. No earth shattering revelations just good, common sense discussions and to-do’s coming out of those meetings.

Elections were held and the results …Mark Trupp of Riggs was elected Vice President, Chris Dalley of Blackfoot and Tracy Walton of Gem County were elected to the Board of Directors.

One of the high points was when Idaho Farm Bureau President Frank Priestley awarded Bill and Betty DeVeny of Riggins the 2009 Presidents Cup on Wednesday night to a standing ovation. The DeVeny’s have been fixtures for over 40 years in the Farm Bureau and sheparding the legislation of issues that affect farmers and ranchers in Idaho. One reason the DeVeny’s have been so successful in helping to generate sensible farm policy is their association with the Farm Bureau as explained by Farm Bureau Vice-President Elect Mark Trupp: “The policy that is developed in here is respected through the legislatures because they understand how our organization produces the policy. It comes from the members, it is voted on by the members and the leadership only administers and delivers what the members want.”

Sounds like the Obama administration ought to listen to what the Idaho Farm Bureau does.
