DuPonts Altacor Option for Fruit Growers

DuPont’s Altacor® Option for Fruit Growers. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

DuPont Altacor® insect control compound is a breakthrough mode of action insecticide that delivers remarkable plant protection. Dan Sherrod with DuPont Crop Protection.

SHERROD: One of the things that I think is a real benefit of Altacor® is it has long residual and so I some cases you may not have to spray as often and it also has some biological attributes around particularly like with codling moth having effects on the eggs and on the larvae.

That adds extra flexibility in the timing for application. Altacor® has shown to be very effective for apples and now for grapes.

SHERROD: Just this past summer we received a label in Altacor® in tree nuts so that covers filberts which I know are grown up in that geography so yes, we have a very comprehensive label and we’re working very hard to expand that label also.

They do hope that some new labels will be issued for additional crops in the New Year. Sherrod says that producers are having very good luck with results as well as use of the product.

SHERROD: One of the nice things about Altacor® is that it’s had the formulation has done very well. We’ve had no problems with mixing, loading, application, spray tank clean out, any of those things and in all the use we’ve seen so far where it’s been in tank mixes, we’ve had no problems or issues.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
