Wine Blogger’s Conference. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report. Blogging. It’s the today version of keeping a diary and sharing it with all your friends. It’s also a good way to share thoughts on a good bottle of wine and according to Ryan Pennington, Senior Communications Manager for the Washington Wine Commission, bloggers have noticed Washington wines and are planning to bring their next conference to the state. PENNINGTON: The conference itself is organized by a group of wine bloggers themselves, so it’s organized by and for the wine blogging community and that term is relatively loosely defined. I mean it ranges from people who are very prominent and very successful and actually make a living fulltime off revenue generated from advertising on their blogs and speaking fees, travelling around the country to different conferences down to people create a blog about wine because they love wine. Pennington says that the bloggers medium will grow and change. PENNINGTON: Different platforms are going to continue to shift and change. Which autonomous websites are of highest profile and have the greatest reach to which other third party sites are getting the most traction, examples being Facebook or MySpsace or Twitter. You know I think those platforms are going to be continuously evolving environment. He says that this kind of public discussion has been very positive when it comes to wines from the state and so much so the next conference has chosen a site in the state. Tomorrow we talk more about wine blogging and the next conference. That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
