Your updated sports report is coming right up. There’s a delay in the Oct. 3 home football game kickoff between the University of Idaho and Colorado State. The Vandals' improved fortunes this season prompted a change in game time to 7:30 p.m. so ESPN could televise the home game against the Rams.
Now what does that have to do with ag news? A lot because there’s a 7.5 percent enrollment increase this fall for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. And, in turn, The Ag College puts together what they call an Ag Day recruiting event which Dr. John C. Foltz, Associate Dean and Director of Academic Programs explains: “We’ve ramped up our Ag Days so we’ve turned that into not just an alumni/current students event where they’ve got some fun activities but a major recruiting event where we’ve got about 300 high school students who have come each of the last 4 falls to visit campus and to take some classes and to take in a football game.”
The weekend events include a pre-game barbecue Saturday, obviously somesocializing and livestock judging events for FFA and 4-H members.
