NCBA in D.C.
Beef producers…Your Idaho Cattle Association is working for ya’…in Washington! The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association is holding 2009 legislative conference in Washington D.C. This is the time when cattlemens’ voices and concerns can be heard. NCBA Executive Director of Legislative Affairs Colin Woodall says the annual NCBA Legislative Conference is an important opportunity for catte producers to meet with key Congressional and agency representatives to talk about policy issues impacting the industry: “The annual legislative conference that the The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association puts on each year is extremely important because it allows our cattle producers from across the country to come into Washington D.C. and engage in this political process, meet with their senators, their members of congress, and with members of the administration to talk about all the issues that are important to cattle producers right now.”
Woodall says NCBA is focusing its legislative efforts on a number of key issues this year: “Of course food safety is going to be one of the big ones, there’s been a lot of movement in the house, we know the senate’s gonna pick up that bill this fall. Of course climate change, Cap and Trade have been big, big issues for many years now. So we want to go in there and make sure they know that agriculture is part of the solution, not part of the problem.
