New Apple Education Event

New Apple Education Event

New Apple Education Event. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

This year’s annual Hort convention will get off to a big start with a new pre-convention event according to Washington Apple Education Foundation’s Jennifer Witherbee.

WITHERBEE: The opening event will occur Sunday evening at the Wenatchee Wild hockey game. And this is a benefit game for the Washington Apple Education Foundation. We’ll have some of our students present and helping out at the game and tickets that are purchased in advance through the Washington Apple Education Foundation help benefit our foundation programs.

WAEF programs benefit apple industry families and kids and is supported through financial gifts. Witherbee says besides a great hockey game there will be extra events to help out the foundation and provide some great entertainment.

WITHERBEE: We will have during the game a Chuck-A-Puck competition, we will have a 50/50 Raffle going on. After the game the hockey players will be auctioning off their jerseys; their jerseys worn during the game that do need to be washed after they’ve been purchased and they will feature the foundation logo on them.

I guess the washing of the jerseys would be optional but recommended. This event promises to be a lot of fun and beneficial as well. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the WAEF website at waef.org.
