Governor Otter on Ethanol

The ethanol industry has been troubled of late and with gas prices starting to escalate, one might think that’s good for bio-fuel. Idaho has a vast resource for producing ethanol and here’s Governor Otter. "I’m a big advocate of it, I think we need a lot more education certainly, every time a new idea comes forward and ethanol is no different than any other, the doldrums of ethanol today are driven by the price of gasoline and by the price of oil. Recall, when oil was $140/barrel, ethanol was very popular. Plus it’s the only oxygenate that we’ve got. It’s the only additive and oxygenate that we can add to traditional oil and gasoline supplies in order to burn cleaner. I use E-85 in one of my vehicles, I’ve never had a problem no matter how hot it got or how cold it got and by the way, I’m getting great mileage and the engine runs great."
