New Favorite

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. As many of you know, my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. Today I want to talk about one of my new favorite wines for the summer or actually anytime.

Recently I was reminded just how good New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is in the summer and how great it tastes with the foods of summer. The white wine Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand takes on some minerality, high acid and big fruit quality that is so refreshing and can be served cold without masking it all.  We attended a barbecue with all kinds of great food from Flank steak to pasta salad and watermelon. The only white wines being served were Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. I admit I haven’t had much this summer so it was a pleasant reminder of how good they are.  The usual suspects were there Giesen Wine Estate, Nobilio and Cloudy Bay which is today my new favorite wine. It was classic crisp and juicy, mouthwatering and lush with grapefruit and citrus zest. It was a great compliment to all of the food other than the corn – mmmm – it just didn’t work. But the wines were great so grab a few while the weather is still hot. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at ag info dot net and thanks for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
