Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer Re-Charge
We’ve recently heard political input from almost every party available, from the Governor to attorneys overseeing legal issues relating to the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer re-charge program. Here’s Bob McLaughlin, Public Information Officer, ?Idaho Department Of Water Resources with an update on how things are actually going.
“We had a very successful spring re-charge of the ESPA basically because we had a great water year. The Idaho Water Resource Board’s water right came into priority for quite a long time. So we had the available water, we had favorable weather too with a very wet spring which delayed irrigation demand and that allowed our re-charge in the spring to continue for a long period of time, into July. Now our staff is planning a fall re-charge project, we had a presentation by one of our staff members and got the go ahead from the Board to come up with a plan to perform fall recharge of the ESPA.
