Miss Idaho

Miss Idaho

Not to be a cynic, but when you watch beauty pageants like Miss USA or Miss America, it’s usually not because you want to hear what the candidates articulate as their platform. One contestant will say they want world peace, another will want to educate all the children in the world, and yet another will say she hopes for blue skies, lots of sunshine and an end to global warming. Refreshingly, Miss California Carrie Prejean who also won Miss USA , was candid and told her opinion about gay marriage: she said she thought marriage should be between a man and a woman. Imagine that!

What’s this got to do with Ag News? Listen to the platform of Miss Idaho: “My platform is modern agriculture supporting and sustaining society. It’s really based on the experiences I had growing up on a small hobby farm showing lambs, horses, pigs and 4-H and FFA. Through these experiences I was able to see how important agriculture is to our everyday lives and yet as a consumer we don’t see that. My goal is to promote agriculture throughout this entire state.”

That’s my kind of gal and Idaho should be proud of her.
