Summer Bubbly's

Summer Bubbly's

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. As many of you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. Today I want to talk about my favorite summer sparkling wines.

During the summer I naturally tend towards white wines due to the heat and the abundance of vegetables we eat. But I also love to have a nice bottle of bubbly on occasion. In fact when it is very hot as it gets in Washington wine country I have been known to sit by the pool with a bottle of Asti Spumante plunged into and ice bucket at my side.  I like the refreshing effervescence it just feels right in the heat of the summer. I also want you to realize there are some inexpensive but still high quality bubbles to be had. Take Fontana Fredda Asti Spumanti or Zardetto Prosecco or Chandon Brut Rose or Chateau Ste Michelle or Mountain Dome. You get the idea, there are lots out there. Bubbly wine is great with chilled fruit and cheese. With room temperature grilled meats like salmon or chicken. Also salty foods pair well with sparkling wines. I think of them as my popcorn wines. I do tend to seek out dryer styles of sparkling rose’ wines when I am enjoying them with food.  Look for wines with good acidity and small bubbles.  If you find one you especially enjoy then share with our listeners and send your suggestions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today’s

Vine to Wine.
