The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service announces a special sign-up period for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) to develop Forest Management Plans for private land. The application period is open for three weeks from May 4 through 22.

Jeff Burwell, Idaho State Conservationist  said …”This year, NRCS has a special sign-up period to help private landowners develop Forest Management Plans. “There is   a very limited funding pool of $50,000 available and this is an opportunity to focus on conservation activity plans for forestry.”

Mark Weatherstone, Assistant State Conservationist for Technical Resources: “We’re providing financial assistance to landowners to hire a forest related consultant or another entity to prepare an activity plan or a forest management plan so they can take that plan and participate in the EQIP program to install specific conservation practices that are outlined in their plan from Bonner’s Ferry to Mountain Home area.
