Public Service Announcement/Funny Coincidence

It takes big machines to farm big country like the fields found in Idaho. Recently, local farmer Sid Freeman who’s also a Board Member of the Canyon County Farm Bureau wanted to reach out to motorists on rural roads where farmers are driving their equipment. “We definitely need to make a point. You’ve got to be careful. You’ve got to be sure that those farmers on their tractors have eye contact when you go to turn.” So Sid, went to work. He got in touch with Jake Putnam of the Farm Bureau and asked Jake to produce a Public Service Announcement about safety. Jake, who’s a very good friend of mine, sent me the script to do a voiceover…which I did. But I called Sid Freeman on another story. Listen to the conversation. “I think in the e-mail that Jake sent you, he also let you know that h didn’t write it. You know who did? Me! So he goes, got any ideas and I said I’ve got lots of ideas. I thought it needs to be kinda light-hearted. We don’t want to be too damning, so I thought up the pesky farmer, a little sarcasm was OK.

The spot was made and here’s a snippet. “But folks, be agri-friendly. Slow down, take a deep breath, and relax. Those pesky farmers are your friends and neighbors.”
