Lighten Up

Lighten Up

Welcome to vine to wine this is your host Linda Moran. Yes it is February and we are all aware of the months prior when we eating and drinking with great abandon. Well Super Bowl is over and I am on a campaign to lighten up. Not so much lose weight but just get back to normal. Of course, I think the food we eat and the wine we drink still has to be interesting. At our house grilling is always an option no matter what the weather, so grilled foods are often my choice. You can grill just about anything and that charred flavor seems to help it go with red wine. If you just can't bring yourself to light up the grill then you can use the oven's broiler. Take a few thick slices of those great winter squashes and apples. Spray them with olive oil and lay them on the grill turning from side to side until they are tender. Toss a chicken breast on for some protein and you have a light simple meal that will go well with a nice glass of Syrah or Merlot. The most important thing is to remember moderation never hurt any of us after all of the celebrating eating and drinking of the past few months. Just lighten up and you can still eat and drink well. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
