A Lot of Snow for the New Year. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.
Many areas of the U.S. are getting pounded by strong winter storms this season and the Pacific Northwest is no different. Record amounts of snow have fallen across the region including Spokane that has received more than record amounts for December. A number of roofs have collapsed under the weight of the snow including a church, grocery store and a health club. One woman was shoveling her sidewalk when snow from the roof fell, burying her. She died from suffocation before anyone found her. And more snow was expected.
Meteorologist Mark Brusberg touches on Pacific and Northern Plains storms.
BRUSBERG: Unfortunately you're just going to see another Pacific storm go into the Northwest so it's going to hopefully abate going across the northern plains and the North East, that snow should be ending but you're going to have another strong storm slamming into the coast at the end of the week. We could also see a return to arctic air by early next week into the northern plains but it doesn't look right now that it's going to be too big of an issue it's just whether or not there's going to be an additional problem with any blowing snow and low wind chills that are going to accompany that front.
Now here's today's Washington Grange Report.
