11/20/08 The Oregon/Idaho Grains Conference

Farm and Ranch November 20, 2008 The Oregon/Idaho Grains Conference is just a few weeks away now. Matt Gellings, President of the Idaho Grain Producers Association, says the conference is December 10th through the 12th at the Coeur d'Alene Resort in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Gellings: "We have Oregon and Idaho. We used to have Washington but they are having their own thing now. But Oregon and Idaho and we try to have a unified view. There are a lot of issues that are common ground actually for all three states. But having Oregon and Idaho there is going to be a great time." A popular speaker will be returning to address the joint convention of the Idaho Grain Producers Association and the Oregon Wheat Growers League. Gellings: "Barry Flinchbaugh is going to be back with us. He is an economist from Kansas State. He was a big draw last year and he ought to be able to fill us in on who will be the next Secretary of Ag. He seems to in the know on that. Of course he predicted the Clinton's would win this election too. So we are going to give him some crap on that one. Better pay up on his bets." The conference will also have several workshops with topics such as direct seeding, to the future of fertilizer to markets and more. Gellings: "Hopefully you will be there. Hopefully everybody else will be there."
