09/10/08 Campaign Trials

With the presidential election just weeks away you would be hard pressed to pick up a newspaper or magazine without some sort of political hype hitting you in the face. The most recent is what I like to call Palin Pouncing. Sarah Palin, the first female Republican Party vice-presidential candidate, has gone from being a big fish in a small pond to being shark bait in one of the most voracious presidential races in our nation's history. The media has been feverishly trying to dig up as much "dirt" on Palin as only the media can. Her family has been pressed between glass slides and put under the microscope to reveal that, (gasp); they are like any other American family and have their share of issues and problems. It's been rumored that the McCain team didn't do their homework completely before rushing Palin and her family into circulation. But perhaps they did and found someone they thought could weather the storm. Regardless of party affiliations you can't help but admire her. Sarah Palin has after all cut her teeth in the Alaskan wilderness; the media probably pales in comparison.
