06/09/08 Aberdeen Twilight Tour

True, not all roads lead to Aberdeen but a trip there on July 16th might be worth the effort. The University of Idaho and the USDA Agricultural Research Service will have a Twilight Tour from 5 to 8 pm that evening. ARS Research Leader Mike Bonman says they've planned a lot of activities and displays for ag producers and non-ag folks as well. Start off by sampling French fries from different potato varieties. BONMAN "We're going to have a display of the UDSA trout-grains project where we'll have some trout on display that were grown on plant based diets. The look just like regular trout. And we'll also have some samples of smoked trout that people can try." The Idaho Barley Commission will have a booth displaying barley food items and some samples to take home and try. There are demonstrations and information for the non farming community such as lawn care, irrigation, weed control in the garden and lawn, personal finance and nutrition. Field and lab tours are also part of the July 16th tour along with door prices and games. Voice of Idaho Agriculture Bill Scott
