Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and as many of you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. I just don't waste my time drinking wine that I don't like. This past week I was teaching a wine class and I had a wine that I have enjoyed in the past and I was reminded how much I enjoy it. It was Forgeron Chardonnay from Walla Walla, Washington
Well it is always nice to be reminded of a wine you have not tasted in a while and to be able to go home knowing that you have some still in your cellar. That's what happened to me. During a wine class I was teaching we tasted the 2006 Forgeron Cellars Chardonnay. It is a wine I am quite familiar with and after tasting it again I was very happy in knowing that I still have a few bottles in my wine cellar. The wine has a fragrance of very well combined fruit and oak notes. The oak is apparent yet does not over power the fruit. Now that in and of itself is nice. But it gets better because when you taste it both the fruit and the oak are there for you in a lovely harmony but it is balanced by just enough acid to keep it interesting . And that is so nice. This is a chardonnay that could actually go with food perhaps a dish you might even normally serve with red wine. If you enjoy Chardonnay - this wine is worth seeking out. I highly recommend it.
