Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. On today's program we are taking a look at places to travel with food and wine in mind. You know any metropolitan area these days is usually home to some sort of food and wine culture. Today I want to talk about a smaller city Spokane Washington. Most people know this but for our out of state listeners - Spokane Washington is on the exact opposite side of the state from Washington's major city Seattle. It could not be more different when it comes to size let alone climate. Because the climate is sunny rather than rainy the growing season is longer and many small farmers make their living growing vegetables for the local markets and of course the local restaurants. Two of the eatery's I would highly recommend when visiting the Spokane area are Mizuna and Latah Bistro. Mizuna has great ambience and is very friendly. If you are a vegetarian or simply enjoy healthy gourmet you will appreciate many of the selections on the menu. Now if you are up for venturing out of the city just a little ways you will be rewarded by your effort when you dine at Latah Bistro. Talk about fabulous food it has a truly sumptuous menu. In addition the wine list is one of the most well thought out you could ask for. In addition to many of Washington's finest wines it also has a nice selection of imported wines. So do not assume that because a city is just a tad smaller it doesn't have a whole lot of great food and wine experiences. Just try out Spokane and see what you think. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at Vine to Wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
