02/11/08 Governor's Ag Awards

Each year at the Larry Branen Idaho Ag Summit awards are given to men and women who have made contributions to agriculture and the rural lifestyle. People like Jim and Carol Guthrie are being cited for their environmental stewardship and a decade long project to stabilize the Portneuf River banks on their eastern Idaho farm. They are Governors Award winners tomorrow and here are some others. FALLAHI "I'm Essie Fallahi. I was born about 140 kilometers north of Tehran, Iran. I came to this country in 1975." WOOD "I'm Mary Lee Wood. I retired from the University of Idaho. I spent about 34 years working for them." WADA "My name is Albert Wada. I'm 61 years of age. I've been here all my life other than a short stint at college." And there's Dr Bill Stouder, who lives and operates a dairy in the Magic Valley. Like the other folks we've mentioned his story simply can't be told in what little time we have. But for the next week we'll profile each of these award winners and the contributions they've made to Idaho's agricultural industries. Voice of Idaho Agriculture Bill Scott
