01/11/08 Register now for Washington Potato Conference Spanish Program

January 11, 2008 The Spanish Language Program at the 2008 Washington State Potato Conference is being held February 5th at the ATEC Building at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake. Karen Bonaudi, Assistant Executive Director of the Washington State Potato Commission, highlights some differences for this year's Spanish Program. Bonaudi: "Two major differences is that the Spanish program is running a full day instead of just a half a day. Additionally, the participants will be awarded pesticide credits, which is something new as well." In fact six Washington State Department of Agriculture pesticide credits are available for the program, which features the WSDA's innovative hands-on pesticide handler training. The Spanish Program runs from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm on February 5th and Bonaudi recommends interested parties get registered. Bonaudi: "The important point is that people need to register in advance if they can because we only have 50 slots and we hate the idea of turning people away at the door." The Spanish Program is available at no additional charge to potato crop workers, just the $5 conference entrance fee. You will find a registration form and more information at www.potatoconference.com I'm Bob Hoff and that's the Northwest Farm and Ranch Report.
