Wash Ag September 4, 2007 Washington's 10-thousand beef producing families have teamed up with Washington State University to present the Cougar Gridiron Classic coming up in Seattle Saturday September 8th against San Diego State.
Patti Brumbach, Executive Director of the Washington Beef Commission, says the football game is a great opportunity to put a face on Washington's beef industry.
Brumbach: "We have over 100 beef producers from throughout the state that will be riding buses and driving cars to the facility and once there they will all don their Cougar cowboy clothing and Beef It's Whats for Dinner aprons and will be serving Cougar Cowboy Beef and Black Bean Chili to about 10-thousand Coug fans as they enter the game."
Brumbach says promotion for the Cougar Gridiron Classic created opportunities for beef promotion. For example with Albertson's and Double R Ranch.
Brumbach: "Because Double R Ranch produces Cougar hot dogs and Cougar burghers and they are in Albertson stores in eastern and western Washington."
Another promotion urged consumers to register at QFC stores in western Washington for the Ultimate Coug Weekend Giveaway and pick up some flat iron steaks while they are there.
Washington beef producers fund the activities of the Washington Beef Commission with their $1.50 beef check off.
