Pint size package or the full meal deal? I'm Jeff Keane and I'll be right back with more on whether or not we should go big for our kids. (Commercial) The issue of getting more for your money isn't limited to fast food and supermarkets any more. The quandary of pony or horse is bound to come up when thinking of that first equine partner for your children. Here's Becky with more. Well Jeff anyone who knows me can see by my defensive riding that I definitely grew up riding the short bus, as I like to call it. I am optimistic that my early childhood ponies made me into a strong rider. After many run ins with stubborn ponies "real life" seemed a whole lot easier. And let me tell you what a wonderful reward when I finally received my first horse. Yeah Becky, I bet it was a treat to finally see over the bushes instead of being drug through them. It was nice but there were a few downfalls to my new horse model. Saddling became more difficult and my lazy bareback rides now started with finding a rock, fence or helpful friend to give me boost. A huge benefit with my larger mount was the respect I received from the cattle on our gathers. No longer at or below there level I at least felt like I had the advantage. The truth, I wouldn't change a thing, pony or horse it doesn't matter for me, just so long as it's horse flesh. Well, I started out on a full-size "take care of me" horse and don't know if I would have been tough enough to master the pony, but I do have a lot of respect for anyone who can one of those little rascals to perform.
