New Generation Burgers There's a trend in casual dining restaurants that I really don't need, but some people enjoy. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be back in one minute to tell you what the trend is. If you head to a restaurant now to have a hamburger don't have your mind and mouth too set on a certain taste. Innovation and experimentation is altering the traditional taste of the old stand-by American hamburger. Now nobody had to do this for my taste buds, just give me a good beef hamburger with the usual condiments and I'm a happy man. Jimmy Buffet's "Cheeseburger in Paradise" pretty much sums up as innovative as I need to be, but more and more people are trying and enjoying new hamburger tastes and changes. Depending on what national chain or high-end restaurant you visit, you might have to choose between hamburgers with names like Dippable French Onion Burger, 5 Alarm, Santa Fe, Banzai, or Bruschetta. These burgers have everything on them from teriyaki sauce, salsa, and jalapenos to grilled pineapple slices. Some new design hamburgers are even exchanging the traditional bun for pita bread or downsizing to burgers like Wolfgang Puck's Mini Kobe Sliders. According to an article in Beef magazine these new burger innovation accounted for nearly 47 million more hamburgers being sold at various establishments. So go ahead and order that Peppercorn Bleu Cheeseburger, I think it's great; I like to sell good beef. I'm Jeff Keane. Beef January 2007
