Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and today we are going to talk about a major wine event that just occurred on the third Thursday of November.
Many of you have probably heard about or tasted a wine called Beaujolais Nouveau. Well, on the third Thursday of November, the French from the region of Beaujolais give us a peak at the recent harvest just a little taste of what the regions' harvest was like. In other words, what we have to look forward to with this vintage. So Nouveau meaning new and from the region of Beaujolais we have Beaujolais Nouveau. Because the wine is the first picked and has just barely been fermented - I am not so sure how well it represents the vintage. However, tradition is the wine is released from the winery at one minute past midnight on the third Thursday of November. The cases are loaded on jets and distributed throughout the world. Everyone wants to be the first to taste the new vintage. Although not quite the hype it once had this is the occasion being celebrated at the Beaujolais Nouveau Festivals throughout the world. It is more of a harvest celebration to me and depending on how it turns out - it can be a great wine served chilled with a turkey sandwich. Maybe I see some Beaujolais Nouveau in your turkey leftover future. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
